The Power Rank 2022 NFL Playoff Report is now available.

This report has my best predictions and analysis for every NFL playoff game. Here are three insights from the report for Wild Card Weekend.

1 - The markets don't like the Raiders

During week 16, the Raiders were favored at home against Denver until the market closed with Denver -1. The market moved towards Denver despite the fact that back up QB Drew Lock would play.

During week 17, the Raiders were 7.5 point underdogs at Indianapolis. This went down to 6.5 points when Colts QB Carson Wentz was placed on the COVID list. With the new rules, Wentz was able to come back and play, and the markets closed Indianapolis -8.5.

During the last week of the season, the markets had the Los Angeles Chargers -3 at the Raiders most of the week. The market closed at this number.

This might be changing for Wild Card weekend. The markets opened with Cincinnati -6.5, but this has come down to -4.5 at some books as of Thursday afternoon.

2 - Philadelphia's pass offense

The Eagles rank 23rd in my adjusted passing success rate. That's bad.

QB Jalen Hurts has a 77 PFF passing grade from a clean pocket, the most predictive part of their grading system (grades on passes under pressure tend to be volatile). This grade puts Hurts just ahead of Daniel Jones and right behind Teddy Bridgewater, not exactly elite company.

TE Dallas Goedert is a weapon (2.34 yards per route), and rookie DeVonta Smith has shown potential (1.77 yards per route). In addition, Philadelphia runs the ball well (2nd in my adjusted rushing success rate).

However, passing success rate is the most predictive NFL statistic, and Philadelphia is ahead of only Pittsburgh among playoff teams.

3 - Why Pittsburgh made the playoffs

Despite the struggles of QB Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers made the playoffs. There are two reasons why.

First, the defense is solid. Pittsburgh ranks 7th in my pass defense numbers. They only have the 24th best PFF coverage grade as a team, but this defense gets a great pass rush with players like TJ Watt.

Second, Pittsburgh has been lucky. They have an 8-2-1 record in one score games this season, and win percentage in close games strongly regresses to .500.
